ICO is backed by an idea to deliver a project. ICO’s goal is to raise
money through a digital platform by offering its coin as a utility. Some
of the examples of successful ICOs are:
⚬
⚬Ethereum: The only blockchain that offers inbuilt smart contacts
and its own currency called ETH.
⚬
⚬IOTA: IOTA offer a unique offering that combines elements from
the internet of things (IoT) and blockchain technology to conduct
transactions.
⚬
⚬NEO: NEO is a Chinese open-source blockchain project that is
sometimes known as ‘China’s Ethereum’.
⚬
⚬Stratis: The Stratis platform is compatible with multiple program-
ming languages and enables businesses to create, test and deploy
custom applications without having to set up or maintain their
own infrastructure.
• EOS: EOS is a full-fledged operating system that provides application
developers with databases, account permissions, scheduling, authen-
tication and internet-application communication tools. Its compre-
hensive ecosystem allows developers to operate seamlessly without

Bitcoin
We have already gone through an overview of Bitcoin in Chapter 1. I will
go through some more insights in this section about Bitcoin and how it can
be used for business purposes. As you already know, Satoshi Nakamoto
published the Bitcoin whitepaper in January 2009. Satoshi’s identity is still
mysterious, and no one knows his real identity until now. Bitcoin offers
a peer-to-peer version of electronic cash without any control by a central
authority like the Bank of England. It is the first and still the best use case
of blockchain technology.

and transparent way to transfer electronic cash in the form of Bitcoin cryp-
tocurrency called BTC.
